OUR LEGACY

  • Lesley Kemmis – Founder 1980

After many years working as a retail clerk in the Northshore Dishwasher Centre NSW, and as a mother of four, Lesley saw first hand the rise in the popular use of  domestic home appliances such as dishwashers, and clothes dryers through a shift for convenience throughout the 1970’s. Seizing the opportunity, Lesley opened the flagship ‘Tymblack’ Sydney store in 1980. Working in the business full time and with the assistance of her late husband, Phillip and daughter, Judy; Tymblack saw great success as a leader in the home appliance retail sector and subsequently opened another three stores nationwide and evolved as specialists in electrical goods and home appliances.

In 1990, Lesley handed over the operations of the Brisbane division of Tymblack, ‘Brisbane Appliance Sales’ to her daughter and son-in-law who relocated with their young family to Queensland in order to work and operate the store at a local level.

The matriarch of the Brisbane Appliance Sales family, Lesley retired in 1995 after selling the remaining three Sydney stores. Her presence is always a welcome sight at Brisbane Appliance Sales, which she visits often, making the long journey from her picturesque country home in Berrima, NSW (complete with chicken coop and llama’s) to also visit her loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.
